About us…
SEB products
were, at the beginning, the idea of an amateur with a persistent strong awareness…
In 1995, after an unsuccessful
search for a performing skate offering an acceptable comfort level, Sébastien
Houle took the initiative to make one. This idea, even though simple,
would become a career project. After months of research and increasingly more
convincing prototypes, Sébastien started production of SEB Skates
in 1999.
Soon,
clients began to understand the true meaning of the term “customer service”.
Always available, always ready to listen to his customers, Sébastien
build a good reputation, devoting many hours during the day (and at night) in
order to satisfy his customers with products that surpass the comfort norms
of the industry.
One year later, not being able
to satisfy an increasingly growing demand, he partnered with Charles
Beaudoin, a skater of experience well known in the inline skating community
in Montréal. The two partners had to therefore confront many challenges
to create a superior quality skate with a coating that would match the highest
standards of the industry. This
willpower to take on challenges, at the origin of SEBskates, had permitted Charles
and Sébastien to attain international standing. Subsequently, Charles
left the company to undertake other projects.
Sébastien
continued the production of skates and the business grew from year to year.
After leaving its mark in the world of short track speed skating
and inline skating, SEB Skates changed names
to SEB Sports and the latter, which already had many employees,
penetrated into the market of custom long track speed skating
and cycling shoes. This worked so well that the long track
speed skates became recommended by Robert Tremblay, coach of the national team,
in Ste-Foy.
Unfortunately, in 2007, Sébastien
announced the end of SEB Sports on his website. Actually, medical constraints
pushed him to stop the production of skates and cycling shoes. Brian
Jalbert, a long-time skater at the national short track centre, who
has, since a long time, competed on the national and international scene, and
who continued, subsequently, in long track speed skating and inline skating,
had two pairs of SEB skates made that year.
Noticing
the closure of the company on the website and knowing that he would finish his
Bachelor’s of Kinesiology that year, Brian had the smart idea of wanting
to acquire the company, in order to continue its production. Having confidence
in Brian’s ideas, Sébastien had his own brilliant idea and proposed
to Brian that he would stay in the company as advisor and director of development.
In fact, he was always important to the company in offering the best and most
cutting-edge products.
This new partnership revived the
production of SEB products and the company was renamed Sébastien
Et Brian Inc., in order to use the acronym SEB.
Thus, Brian continued the production
of skates and cycling shoes, by using the same method and the same high
quality of materials that made the products of SEB very performing,
confortable, durable, and maintainable.
SEB
skates took part in several worldwide events, such as Olympic Games
in Torino and various World Cups (long track speedskating).
Skaters that chose SEB also won many competitions such as the North American
Championship in short track and second place in the Canadian Championship (Sébastien
Courteau).
All
of SEB’s products are made by hand for maximum comfort and precision.
Only specially selected materials are used in the production of each SEB product.
Our
specialists have many years of experience in the production of castings and
all of our products are made in Québec (Canada).
